André Veneman graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1983. From 1983 - 1988 onward he worked with UNHCR as a Medical Coordinator in Emergency and Refugee situations.
In 1989 he joined the HSE department in Shell International. In January 1999, he joined AkzoNobel HSE and as of October 2003 he was appointed as Corporate Director Sustainability & Health Safety and Environment.
André Veneman is chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Sustainable Trade Initiative and of the European Ecolabel/ Stichting Mileukeur. He represents AkzoNobel in international organizations such as World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Global Reporting Initiative, World Resources Institue, UN Global Compact and World Connectors.
